Fred died suddenly on the Morris Island clam flats on August 15, 2020. He was born December 13, 1947 in Boston, MA to the late Frederick Sr. and Anna (Schuler) Crimins and attended Somerville and Billerica schools. Fred graduated from Tufts University with a B.S. in Biochemistry in 1969. After graduation, he served in the United States Army, stationed in Italy, until 1972.

Fred was employed as a Managed Care Account Executive for the bulk of his career before retiring from Quest Diagnostics in 2010. Living in Boxborough, MA for 40 years before moving to Chatham, he was a member of Thoreau Tennis Club in Concord, served on the town Finance Committee, was a season ticket subscriber to the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and enjoyed the Mens Table at the First Congregational Church, Boxborough.

A lifelong lover of the Cape, he moved to Chatham full-time in 2015 with his wife Jacquie. Fred was an avid fly fisherman, clam digger, and tennis player; and more recently he enjoyed the pickleball "group" in Chatham. He was most happy when he was on his boat, Anna Sea, fishing for stripers. When it came to fishing he wasn't picky; he didn't even mind fishing under an I-95 overpass in CT with his grandsons in May before he died. He was "The Old Man and the Sea" incarnate and a big fan of Hemmingway.

When it was too windy for the boat, you'd find Fred in the yard, filling the bird feeders with seed or finding a use for his chainsaw. All he really wanted in life was to be useful. He was big and gentle and kind. His family called him "Big Fred."

In Chatham, he volunteered at the Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge where he enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the sea. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Chatham and more recently was involved in the COA (Council on Aging) Stepping Stone initiative.

Fred is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline; daughter, Johanna Crimins, of Nashua, NH; son and daughter-in-law, Fred III and Michelle Crimins, of Greenwich, CT; grandsons, Alex and Joseph Crimins; as well as brother, Neil Crimins, and sister, Anne Briggs, and their families.
