Christopher Egan

FITCHBURG - Christopher J. Egan 71, of Fitchburg, MA, passed away peacefully in his home Sunday, September 16, 2018, with is family at his side.

Chris was born February 26, 1947 in Boston, MA, the son of the late Benjamin and Dorothy (Cichocki) Egan.

Chris was raised in Arlington, was a graduate of BC High School, and went on to attend Tufts University, in Medford, MA, receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked on the Space Program for United Aircraft in Winsor Locks, CT and later for C.H. Dexter, where he began his career in papermaking. He worked for Munksjo Paper Inc. in Fitchburg, MA and retired from there several years ago.

Chris was an avid gardener, starting most of his flowers from seed; he also enjoyed fall afternoons by the chiminea, golf trips with his brothers, Sunday dinners at his mother's table, and trips to Chatham and Aruba. He loved to read and was a diehard Boston sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox. Most of all Chris enjoyed talking sports, with his son Christopher, hearing about his son Danny's latest travels, and dining on Indian cuisine with his daughter Cassie.

Chris is survived by his wife, Sandra J. (Robichaud) Egan, two sons, Christopher P. Egan and his wife Jennie of Ayer, MA, Dr. Daniel Egan and his spouse Jeremy Morgan of Seattle, Washington, and his daughter Cassandra Egan of Leominster, MA. He also leaves four grandchildren, Alexis O'Connell, Emma Egan, Devan Egan, and Dakota Egan. Chris is also survived by his former wife Virginia (Burns) Egan. He leaves his two brothers, Richard Egan and wife Pat , of Florida, Lawrence Egan and wife Betty of Townsend, MA, two sisters, Patricia Blau of Framingham, MA and Mary Campisi and her husband Charlie of Long Island , New York, and several nieces and nephews.
