Harry L. Wilkinson

Salem-Harry Wilkinson, 64, of Reading MA, passed away at North Shore Medical Center in Salem on April 23, 2011.He was born on October 3, 1946 in Lawrence MA to Mabel B. (Barwell) Wilkinson, and the late Thomas H. Wilkinson.

He lived most of his life in North Andover, graduating from North Andover High in 1964 where he was the class President for 4 years. An accomplished three sport athlete Harry was inducted into the North Andover High School Hall of Fame. Continuing his education Harry received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in education from Tufts University as well as 1 year of post graduate education at Vermont Academy. He was employed by the Woburn public school system where he taught as well as coached football and basketball for 35 years until his retirement in 2005. An avid golfer he was a member of the Bear Hill Country Club and the Cochichewick Masonic Golf League where he served as a past President.

Harry is survived by his mother Mabel B. (Barwell) Wilkinson of North Andover, his uncle Herbert E. Barwell of North Andover, as well as several cousins and numerous longtime friends.

I had just gotten the link for the site and put my own page up.   Harry was my freshman room mate in Wren Hall 545.  I remember that year so well.  We were very different but got along splendidly.   Harry had a huge heart and a gentle soul.  I never did meet him after graduation but I did want to.   I grieve with Harry's family;  he was a very fine man.
