He was a life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a Board Certified Environmental Engineer with the American Academy of Environmental Engineers. At 69 years of age he passed away peacefully on Monday May 20th in his Everett home after a courageous battle with overwhelming illness. Born in Boston he grew up in Everett. He was the son of the late John W. and Charlotte Martha (O'Keefe) Howard. Paul attended Our Lady of Grace Parochial School and graduated from Boston College High School, he attended Boston College receiving his BA in Mathematics, and he continued his education at Tufts University where he received his Master's Degree in Science. Paul worked at the Consulting Engineering firm CDM Smith, Cambridge, MA during the 1980's and also worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for over 20 years. He earned a certificate of appreciation and an achievement medal from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for his work on the hurricane Katrina Recovery Program. Paul enjoyed amateur photography and all things that he could either build or construct. He was the beloved husband of 39 years to Tais Howard of Everett. The devoted father of John Alvaro Costa Howard and his wife Mariana of Falls Church, VA. Dear brother of Rev. John W. Howard SJ, Maj. Gen. Robert T. Howard and his wife Ciretta, and William S. Howard and his wife Diane. Cherished grandfather of Julia and Luke Howard. Adored uncle of Laura, Kimberly and Charise.
