Mrs. Mary R. “Pinky” (Peterson) Sherber, age 59, of Nahant, died Friday, July 21, 2006, at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Boston, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Joseph T. Sherber, her husband of 38years.
A lifelong resident of Nahant, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Harriet (Ahern) Peterson, and the stepdaughter of Naomi Peterson, of Eugene, Oregon.
Mrs. Sherber was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1964, and of Tufts University, class of 1968. She had obtained her Masters Degree and continued her education at Harvard University, Cambridge College and Boston Museum of Fine Arts School. 
Mrs. Sherber was an Art Teacher at the Marshall Middle School, Lynn for 30 years, she retired in 2000. She had also taught in the Salem school system many years ago.
Mrs. Sherber served from 1983-1994 on the Nahant School Committee, and was a former chairperson of the committee, was a member of the Nahant Woman’s Club and the clubs scholarship committee, was the secretary for the Nahant Democratic Town Committee, the secretary for the Nahant Council on Aging, had been a Den Mother in the Nahant Cub Scout program, was a volunteer for the Nahant Little League, and had been a fundraiser for St. Judes Hospital in their annual bike-a-thon.
In addition to husband and stepmother, she is survived by 2 sons: Douglas J. Sherber, of Nahant, and Peter C. Sherber and his wife Kathryn, also of Nahant.
